Community Awareness for Traffic Safety Project (CATSP) will provide newcomers to Canada particularly in Alberta the general knowledge of how Alberta traffic safety works.
The project aim is to train 36 East African immigrants to understand how Alberta traffic works. The project activities will include both in-class and outside training.
In-class training; courses will include road safety, rules and regulations of the Alberta transportation acts, traffic law, effects of drinking and driving, speeds, traffic signs, intersections, traffic lights, defensive driving rules and pedestrians, new driver restrictions and penults, traffic court hearings, justice of peace and right of way rules.
Outside training; will include taking participants to the Edmonton main streets and avenues to show the how traffics are sharing the roads, intersections and obeying the traffic laws.
