The year of 2011 saw a horrific famine hit the Horn of Africa. In December 2011, SCERDO travelled to GEDO region, Somalia to provide humanitarian assistance. Working primarily in the cities of Beledxaawo, Luuq, Doolow and Geedwayne in the Gedo Region, SCERDO provided necessary basic food staples to over 1000 families in the area. Working in partnership with Alberta Government, SCERDO was able to alleviate the hunger of hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children in GEDO region, Somalia. A special thanks goes to Somkan Transportation who provided invaluable help in the moving and distribution of the relief.
