Text Box: The SCERDO team will provide outreach services that will engage youth; encourage them to think about their goals, both long term and short term; link them with relevant support programs in the community and ultimately connect them to assessment services, pre-employment training, schooling or employment. In short, we are aiming to equip youth with the tools they need to succeed.

This program will benefit the 125 Somali youth at-risk in Edmonton who will receive outreach services, and will specifically benefit the 15 youth who will be identified as ready to work with the Outreach workers to achieve the goals set out in their case plans.

Outreach workers will provide youth with group and individual support which will include but is not limited to the following activities:
> Provide outreach services to 125 Somali youth who require support to address personal systemic and environmental barriers by connecting them to relevant programs and services that will move them towards a structured process of identifying their educational/employment needs
 
 > Provide youth resource centre to access computers and other related in formations such as employment, education, counseling referrals etc.
 
> Advocate on behalf of youth accompanying them to appointments and providing follow up support.

Between March 3, 2010 and June 23, 2010, the SCERDO project team will.
Provide outreach services to 125 Somali youth who require support to address their personal and systemic barriers.
Work toward fostering equality and reduce discrimination faced by Somali youth.
Create a support of mechanism that can be multifaceted: culturally appropriate support, access to a network of community and Institutional resources.
Establish youth resource centre to access computers and other related information’s such as employment, education etc.
